The National Family Island Regatta is the premier traditional wooden sloop sailing event in The Bahamas. begun in the beautiful Elizabeth Harbour in 1954, The event attracts sailors, boat builders, and spectators from throughout The Bahamas and the world. The Junior Sailing Programme is a collaboration between The Exuma Sailing Club and The Exuma Foundation. The Foundation has sponsored the building and purchase of 4 "E' class sloops for the Club, and covers the maintenance and repair costs of these boats each year. The Junior sailors train year round and compete in local regattas and the National Junior Championship.
